The team at NYA absolutely LOVE creating dream weddings. But occasionally, we enjoy other pastimes, such as creating pretend dream weddings. And that’s exactly what we did on 14th February. We transformed Chafford Park Estate into a botanical wonderland.

We ran an exciting competition at the beginning of this year… Win your wedding at Chafford Park Estate! We thought what better way to announce the winner than do a Facebook and Instagram live and announce the winners on Valentines Day with the venue looking gorgeous in the background!

Large Hanging Floral Installation

The Granary Barn at Chafford Park Estate has stunning large ceilings – making decor options endless! Lighting, draping, lanterns and the thing of our current Pinterest dreams… A hanging foliage installation. Now this was the first time we’d created a foliage installation of this size and it required a team effort with all members of the team getting involved…

Whenever you begin a job like this, particularly in a restricted timescale, the task can feel quite daunting.

However, with Lisa from Not Your Average Flowers on board, we knew that we were in safe hands.

We begun attaching the copious volumes of foliage to the four planks which would form the square formation which would hang from the ceiling.

Once the first plank was complete, it was time for the hero of the day, Chris, to raise it up carefully using tension wire and a lot of nail biting from the onlookers below!

Hooray! The first plank was in place (…and level)! Phew!

Time for a quick tea break…

We then continued with the remaining three planks.

Once all four planks were raised to the ceiling, Lisa braved the scaffold tower and began to add the finishing touches.

Complete transformation

Now we LOVE Chafford Park Estate in its raw form with its pale wood walls, large metal chandeliers and tall ceilings – it is a gorgeous wedding venue which can suit a whole host of different wedding themes and looks. But we also love seeing dramatic, new and unique transformations at venues we work closely with, and this was certainly one of those stunning transformations. So please excuse me while I bombard you with swoon-worthy photos of the finished look…

Floral Wall

I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but here at Not Your Average I Do, we LOVE foliage. Check out our gorgeous Foliage Wall (our not-so-average twist on the floral wall which trended heavily in previous years) which can be hired and bespoke designed for your wedding day.

Hint: You can use it for endless backdrops on your wedding day: as a ceremony backdrop for the Big I Do’s, as a photobooth or to hang your table plan. Neon personalised lighting or personalised signs in acrylic, metal or wood would look great against a foliage wall.

Finishing Touches

Alongside large floral installations, we believe that it’s the small details when styling your wedding that bring every element together to complete you overall look for the day.

Table Design

When thinking about your tables you need to think about how they will incorporate with the rest of your venue and your theme. With such elaborate foliage pieces hanging from the ceiling we didn’t want to make it look too busy. We opted for a simple but elegant style whilst also adding foliage to the table to tie in the whole look.

Our table-scapes featured our gorgeous copper pipe table stands adorned with NYA flower arrangements which gave height to the table centres (which is a key tip when working in a venue with tall ceilings). Our copper table number stands filled with Orla and James’ stationery complimented the look well. Our copper shapes filled loosely with foliage tied the look in from ceiling to table. Our copper votives glistened as they flickered, mimicking the twinkle of soft lighting in the background.

Co-ordination Catering Hire provided us with the linen, crockery and glassware for the tables. Their stunning Liza Rose cutlery complimented the table props. Veering away from white linen and choosing grey linen softened the look. We also wanted to add a bit of warmth to the table and achieved this by using their coloured smoke tumbler rather than a clear water glass. These little extras can really transform the look of your wedding with a small amount of effort and money.

Cake and Display

We had a gorgeous geometric cake designed by the very talented, Jo from Peek-a-Boo Cakes, displayed beautifully on one of our newest prop pieces – our Wooden Cake Stand with a Hexagonal Metal Hoop. This item is bang on trend and with endless styling opportunities it allows you to put your own not-so-average spin on this current style – we love it! We opted for moss and foliage to tie in with the overall theme of the barn.

Hint: the stand can also be used as a table plan or photo montage for your big day.

Bar Styling

We love elaborately styled bars and yet we often see the bar being overlooked by couples. If your guests are anything like me, then let’s face it, they’re going to spend most of their evening between the dancefloor and the bar and therefore you want it looking gorgeous. With so much greenery in the barn we went for a stripped back and simple look for the Chafford Park bar featuring our Metal Light Up Bar Letters. With these letters, your guests certainly won’t miss the bar when on the lookout for a glass of champagne and they also add a lovely warm glow to the room.

We just want to say a massive Congratulations to Alex and Reece who were the winners of our ‘Win Your Wedding Competition’ at Chafford Park Estate. The couple met at a party through a mutual friend in 2015 and got engaged last year in Turkey. We caught up with the lucky couple at Chafford Park to start the wedding planning process and they said, “we are both so excited and grateful to have won this, it will give us the wedding of our dreams that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to have”.

Please do get in touch if you would like Not Your Average I Do to assist you in creating your dream wedding from Pinterest and Wedding magazines to a reality.
